Use only 4 OZ at a time-- NOT the whole bottle!, May 21, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Multi-Purpose Waterbed Conditioner (Kitchen) This is the same Blue Magic waterbed conditioner I have used for several years now, and had no problems with it until this batch. That is because the previous batches came in 4 oz bottles, and this is an 8 oz bottle.
The instructions on the bottle say to pour the whole thing (8 ounces) into the waterbed at once. Ignore this. When I poured the whole 8 ounces in, in a couple of hours my bed began to smell of new vinyl... really strongly. By the morning my whole room stank. It was a pretty unbearable smell. It also seemed to soften the material of my water mattress and I am not sure that is a good thing.
I finally wound up half-draining the bed, then refilling it with plain water, to get the equivalent of 4 oz of conditioner in it. This solved the problem and it is back to normal, no longer smells.
What I suggest is that when you have a bottle of 8 oz or larger of this conditioner, instead of completely tearing open the seal at the top, just punch two... Read more

I don't know why I didn't look there first. Within two days, I had the waterbed conditioner. What could be easier???
